Brandy,

It's interesting how you describe task-orinted leadership. As a coach and
leader I tend to feel the same way that you do with your philosophy of,
"You're either with me or you're against me." However, a few years into
teaching, that philosophy started to shift. I started to understand that
people have different personality traits, some are more wise, and have
wisdom. I wonder how your subordinates would react to an administrator with
the philosophy "You're either with me or you're against me?" Most often I
am blunt, direct, and to the point, but I think is this is approached in
the right manner it would work. I think this will be a barrier we might
expect to experience. How will you get everyone on board?

Relations-oriented is a tricky one. I feel it may be good that you take
your task and job seriously and you are not worried about friends or
getting to know everyone. I am some what the opposite. I tend to want to
build a rapport with everyone. Sometimes, that is not the best option. With
realizing this will be a barrier for you and you are aware of it, you will
get through it.

I am right there with you on the change-oriented leadership. I think it is
human for some to be scared of the unknown. You are correct, it will be
difficult at times to impliment change that is mandated and you have to be
the advocate of it. I think that is something that we will learn to deal
with and push through with experience.

Thanks for sharing!
