o Identify a definition of shared/democratic/distributive form of leadership.

Shared Leadership-a leadership style that broadly distributes leadership responsibility, such that people within a team and organization lead each other.

Democratic Leadership-involves the redistribution of power and authority between employees and managers to provide employee involvement in decision making.

Distributive Leadership-conceptual and analytical approach to understanding how the work of leadership takes place among the people and in context of a complex complicated organization.

-Shared/Democratic/Distributive forms of leadership all rely on decision making by a team, or related group, of people

o Identify when you might be served and not served to use this form of leadership.

-When you need a more natural system, such as principals and teachers, or between teachers & student leaders. As Mary Parker Follett said: “The most essential work of the leader is to create more leaders.” In doing this you will promote job satisfaction, and morale. It gives the feeling of ownership and autonomy. If the people of the organization are involved in the decision-making process, they are more likely to participate in the decisions.
