[Studentsenatemaster-l] Report on the Presidents Office Hours today.

Hey everyone,


I just wanted to give an update, as I'm sure the papers will be reporting on this tomorrow. President McDavis held his office hours today (after cancelling it last week) and about 10 students showed up. 3 members of the student senate were present as  president McDavis yelled and pointed his fingers at the students who came to ask questions. the questions from students  were very respectful, and insightful.  It was embarrassing to see the president yell at students whom this was probably their first interaction with the OU administration.


Outside of the two other senate members, none of use knew the other students in the room. Many were graduate students who were concerned that they were being asked to work more than the 20 hours they were being paid.  The students afterwards told us that they felt threatened and intimidated. Fortunately an Athens News reporter was present for the entire meeting. ( President McDavis  kicked the Post reporter out of the room)


It is concerning that our own president would treat any student the way he did today.


It also became clear that the administration is worried that our calls for increase compensation for student workers is resonating with students. The momentum is on our side.
