Subject: [CSPTALK] short questionnaire for your graduate students

Happy New Year Colleagues!
I have attended Oshkosh Placement Exchange (OPE) for many years and talked with students there who were completing a bachelor's degree but were undecided about whether to look for full-time (bachelor's level) positions or to attend graduate school and hold a graduate assistantship. Depending on the mentoring received before attending OPE, students were confused about or unaware of their options. Based on this experience, I have worked with the staff of OPE and will be presenting a session there that will help provide bachelor's level students information about the pros and cons of looking for full-time positions or attending graduate school full-time.
It would be really helpful if you would ask your master's degree students to respond to a short survey (below) so I could provide opinions and ideas from many different people about these choices. Feel free to send this email to your master's classes and have students respond to me directly at pamcclu2 at ilstu.edu<mailto:pamcclu2 at ilstu.edu>

Thanks for your help with making this an informative session!
Phyllis

Dear Student:
I am collecting information for a program session to be presented at the Oshkosh Placement Exchange. This program is to help students completing bachelor's degrees who are undecided about whether to work full-time in a bachelor's level student affairs position or earn a master's degree while working in a graduate assistantship position. I hope to present a variety of information and advice from many different people that will help these students make informed choices. Please take 5-10 minutes to respond honestly to these questions and send back to me via email at pamcclu2 at ilstu.edu<mailto:pamcclu2 at ilstu.edu> by February 1.
There is no identifying information asked for and all information will be copied from your email into a secure database. Your email will be permanently deleted.
Thanks for your help in offering perspective and advice to potential future professionals in our field. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Phyllis McCluskey-Titus, Associate Professor, Illinois State University, 309.438.5989.
