Hello Retail Merchandising students,
This message is specifically aimed to pre-major students but may be of
interest to everyone...

The Retail Merchandising faculty at Ohio University have carefully
monitored the progress of students in our pre-major and are continually
seeking to provide the best set of qualifications and requirements for them
to ensure academic and professional success.

We have observed that the current pre-major requirement ('C' or better in
ECON 103, 104, PSY 221, ACCT 101, and MATH 113) is not serving the students
in the program as well as a prerequisite to the major that simply requires
PASSING those courses would. It is our intention and goal that students
demonstrate competency in these courses and complete them prior to moving
on to the RM major because they serve as pre-requisites for or are
important foundational competencies for our more advanced retail
merchandising courses.

So - The revised pre-major requirements we have proposed are:
COMPLETE: MATH 113, ECON 103, ECON 104, ACCT 101, PSY 221
earn a C or better in: HCRM 201, one studio art course (HCRM 150, HCIA 181,
ART 113, or ART 116).

If you have earned a passing grade, but not a C, in one of the courses
listed above, please contact your academic advisor and work with her to
complete appropriate paperwork so that your DARS can be updated. If you
have any questions, feel free to contact your advisor!
