[Geog_Jobs] Several Planning Internships IN ATHENS for Current Undergraduates

Athens County would like to create mini-comprehensive plans for many of the small towns around Athens. To help with this, they are looking for several interns. They don’t have funds to pay anyone, but you could arrange to earn GEOG internship course credits. This would also be a GREAT resume builder and could serve as a stepping-stone to paid positions or graduate school. See the attached PDF for more information.

Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student in the Department of Geography and in good academic standing (Urban Planning students highly desired)
• Junior or Senior class rank
• Must be culturally sensitive
• Must have access to transportation (position will require some travel throughout the county)
• Must be computer literate
• Must have strong research and writing skills
• Must have strong interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to read maps
• Basic knowledge of GIS and/or cartography beneficial but not required
• Knowledge of Appalachian Ohio (culture, history, places, people etc.), and Athens County specifically, highly beneficial but not required

Duration: Up to one calendar-year.

Time Commitment: Up to 15 hours per week during the school-year and up to 20 during the summer. Schedule and hours are very flexible.

Salary: Unpaid (Course credit potentially available through the Geography Department)
