Dear Emeriti Associate,

The Friends of the Ohio University Libraries cold use a little help. Each
quarter we conduct a recycling books sale. This fall the sale occurs
Thursday through Saturday, Oct 22nd to 24th. The sale offers 3000 to 5000
used books to the public and annually earns between $2500 and $4000. The
sale provides scholarships to undergraduate library workers in need. The
Friends also purchase facility improvements and support various library
programs including, most recently, the encouragement of minorities to
familiarize themselves with the field of library work.

During the sale we use volunteers to man the desk for monitoring the sale
and receiving payments from customers. Any one volunteer works a 2-hour
shift at the desk with a partner. The shifts occur on Thursday from 7 – 9
p.m.;  on Friday from 10 – 12, 12 – 2, 2 - 4 and 4 – 6; and on
Saturday 10 – 12, 12 – 2, and 2 – 4.

I hope you will consider offering your time in one of those spots. Call or
email if you have a question or can help, either this quarter or another.
