Subject: ORGS_CIC: Weekly Announcements for Student Organizations

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR YOUR STUDENT ORGANIZATION!!
Responses to the following three announcements should be sent to Ann Addington at addingto at ohio.edu.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
RE-REGISTER YOUR STUDENT ORGANIZATION
Re-registration of student organizations for 2012-2013 is now open. The online form has been updated and you must use your OAK ID to sign in. Also added are two items at the end of the form that relate to your constitution/bylaws and the Agreement of Terms and Conditions. Do not mark "yes" unless you have completed these items for 2012-13.
The link to the online form is:
https://www.ohio.edu/authenticate/?function=sslogin&authorizationsession=25C062F5-EF21-5207-AAA8A2E2110A3A63&certmask=25C062F6-FEFA-ED72-5FF98165A569042C&page=http://www.ohio.edu/involvement/studentorganizations/reregisterstudentorgs.cfm&flag=2
Additional steps to complete the student organization registration process:
1) Agreement of Terms and Conditions - This document is attached. It must be printed off, signed, and returned to the Campus Involvement Center, Room 355, Baker University Center.
2) Constitution and Bylaws - If your organization submitted these for 2011-12 then you do not have to resubmit them unless they have been updated. If the Campus Involvement Center does not have your constitution/bylaws on file then you will receive an email requesting them.
Student organizations will not be considered officially recognized for 2012-2013 until all steps are completed. There is no deadline to re-register but it would be optimal to have all organizations complete the process by the end of spring quarter.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
APPLY FOR A STUDENT ORGANIZATION OFFICE

Is your student organization in need of office space? If so, apply now for one of twenty spaces available for the 2012-13 academic year. The offices are located on the third floor of Baker University Center, down the student government hallway.

If more than twenty student organizations submit applications then a committee made up of staff and students will review the applications and select the occupants based on how they plan to use the space or how they have used the space in the past, if applicable.

Please note that current office holders are not guaranteed a space for next year and must submit an application to be considered for a space.

Annually funded student organizations that have permanent office spaces do not have to re-apply.

The application is attached and is also available at the Campus Involvement Center, Room 355, Baker University Center. Application deadline is May 18.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CAMPUS INVOLVEMENT FAIR
Registration for the Campus Involvement Fair is being delayed until the online form is updated by our IT department. An email will be sent out as soon as the form is ready and registration opens up.
INTERNATIONAL WEEK 2012 | Keynote Speaker Koko Kondo
Monday May 14th
7:00 pm Baker Center Ballroom
August 6, 1945. It¡¯s a day that may or may not ring any bells instantly if you aren¡¯t a history buff. Newspapers quickly deemed it ¡°the day the sun rose twice.¡± It was the day the United States retaliated upon Japan for the Pearl Harbor attack, by dropping an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Some of us weren¡¯t alive, some were too young to know what was going on, and some had their lives changed forever.
Koko Kondo is the youngest survivor of the Hiroshima bomb. Koko was 8 months old when the bomb was dropped and her world was changed. She survived the bombing unharmed physically but saw the effects first-hand. Her father, a pastor, worked with ¡°Hiroshima Maidens,¡± women disfigured by the bombs and she saw how the bombings affected her community. This instilled a rage within her until one day; she came face to face with the man who dropped the bomb on a US television show.
Koko Kondo now works to spread the word of peace and speak out against war all over the world. She highlights the evils of war and power of forgiveness as she offers a firsthand experience to the horrific tragedy that has helped guide her life.
Sponsored by the Ki-Chul Andrew Jung International Week Endowment Fund, the Student Activities Commission (SAC), International Student Union (ISU), International Student and Faculty Services (ISFS), and the Office of Education Abroad (OEA).
A TASTE OF STUDY ABROAD
Responses to this announcement should be sent to nicolebersani at gmail.com.
One of the best ways to truly experience a country's culture is to try their cuisine. The Office of Education Abroad is hosting its annual ¡°A Taste of Study Abroad¡± where all Ohio University students and faculty can try international foods while also getting a taste of the various education abroad opportunities. This event is a part of International Week 2012 festivities and will be held on Wednesday, May 16 from 5-7 p.m. in the Grover Atrium.
Students can grab a bite in Europe, nibble in North America, dine in Australia or snack in Asia. Much of the food will consist of small chocolates, cheeses, packaged snack foods or dishes from the host country. There will also be free giveaways for some lucky students who stop by.
With more than 20 OHIO programs and 10 affiliate providers represented, ¡°A Taste of Study Abroad¡± gives students not only the chance to experience foods from cultures they are interested in visiting but also a chance to directly speak with program directors and past participants.
While trying the various foods, students can take advantage of on-the-spot advising with trained study abroad advisers.
"This is a great event for students because it allows for them to explore study abroad opportunities while making very concrete cultural connections with an important aspect of any culture ¨C food,¡± said Lori Lammert, associate director of Office of Education Abroad.
Countries, regions and cities around the world are home to distant flavors. Students can find the ones that make their mouth water at ¡°A Taste of Study Abroad¡± on Wednesday, May 16.
In addition, the ¡°people¡¯s choice¡± leg of the contest allowed Facebook users to vote on their favorite photo and select their favorite submission.
"The goal of the International Photography Contest is to highlight the international experiences and culture at OHIO, and we hope to inspire others to embark on international journeys of their own,¡± said Lourdes G¨®mez, graduate assistant at the Office of Education Abroad.
Come see the all the winning entries along with the top submissions of this year¡¯s contest. Over 200 photos will be showcased from places around the world.
