Subject: OCA Legislative Advocacy Day

Hello Counselor Education Program Directors,

Every year, the Ohio Counseling Association (OCA) coordinates Legislative Advocacy Day – a day for counseling students, counselor educators, and counselors to advocate for their profession. This year it will be on Tuesday, March 19th (9am-3pm) at the Riffe Center in Columbus, Ohio. This exciting day is open to students, faculty, and practicing counselors in Ohio. As the OACES Representative for OCA’s Government Relations Committee, I want to make sure all Counselor Education programs throughout Ohio were aware of this important and exciting event.

Attendees will:

  * learn about legislative issues that impact clients and the profession,
  * receive training on how to interact with their local government representatives, and
  * have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with their local representatives to advocate for issues that are important to clients and the profession

I encourage you to let your students know about this event and support their attendance through carpools and scholarships. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thank you,
Stephanie Drcar
