NBCC Foundation Wins $2.8 Million in Federal Grants
[https://www.informz.net/nbcc_foundation/data/images/SAMHSA-logo.png?cb=365308]
We are excited to announce that the NBCC Foundation has been chosen as the recipient of two $1.4 million grants from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) for the continuation of the Minority Fellowship Program for Mental Health Counselors<http://nbcc_foundation.informz.net/z/cjUucD9taT03MDY3NzkwJnA9MSZ1PTg5MDk0OTY1NSZsaT01MzEyNjQzNA/index.html> and the Minority Fellowship Program for Addictions Counselors<http://nbcc_foundation.informz.net/z/cjUucD9taT03MDY3NzkwJnA9MSZ1PTg5MDk0OTY1NSZsaT01MzEyNjQzNg/index.html>. This new grant cycle will serve as the beginning of a collaborative relationship with NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals, in support of the addictions counseling program.
The grant will enable the NBCC Foundation, which has administered the NBCC Minority Fellowship Program since its inception in 2012, to award up to 90 fellowships to counseling students each year for the next five years. Award amounts range from $10,000 up to $20,000, and fellowships are available for both master’s- and doctoral-level counseling students who are committed to working with underserved minority populations after graduation.
The next application period for the NBCC Minority Fellowship Program will take place Oct. 15 through Dec. 15 of this year. The NBCC Foundation scholarship program will also be accepting applications during that time. Visit our website for specific requirements and more information on how to apply.

Registration is now open for the 2018 Bridging the Gap Virtual Summit. Presented by Mental Health Academy (MHA), the 2018 Bridging the Gap Virtual Summit is an innovative online continuing education opportunity for counseling professionals. The live event will take place Nov. 10–11, 2018.
MHA is an Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) through NBCC and is also endorsed by NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals. This year’s Virtual Summit, acting as a preview for the 2019 Bridging the Gap Symposium, will begin delving into the theme of Counseling for a Lifetime, and will feature presentations that explore the complexities of counseling clients in varying stages of life. It will consist of 10 one-hour webinar-style presentations, which will be available for attendees to view live (five each day on Saturday and Sunday) or as recorded sessions for two weeks after the live Summit ends. Prior registration is required to access either the live sessions or recorded archives.
Virtual Summit attendees will pay a registration amount of their choosing (with a minimum of $25 for the entire Summit) that will go directly to support the NBCC Foundation’s efforts to expand mental health resources to underserved and never-served communities around the world.
