Job Description:The Department of Educational Psychology, Counseling and Special Education at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for a tenure track position as an Assistant Professor in Counselor Education beginning August 2014.  The initial appointment will be for two years.  Expectations include teaching, research, student advisement, college service, and continuing professional development.  The School of Education is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The Department of Educational Psychology, Counseling and Special Education has ten full-time faculty members, offers graduate programs in school counseling and special education, and teaches courses in learning, development and special education for elementary and secondary education majors. Duties include but not limited to: teaching in both the Master's program and the Certificate of Advanced Study program in Counselor Education; maintaining activity in scholarship and student advisement; working collegially with other members of the Department and School; contributing to college-wide goals.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:  earned doctorate (ABD considered) in Counselor Education or a closely related field; ability to teach core counseling courses; evidence of commitment to excellence in teaching; experience in counselor training and supervision; relevant experience in a school setting; demonstrated ability to conduct research.
