The Department of Rehabilitation & Mental Health Counseling at the University of South Florida is seeking an Associate Professor/Professor to begin employment on August 7, 2013. The successful candidate for this nine-month tenured position will be expected to provide excellent graduate teaching and clinical supervision in a Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE) accredited master’s degree program in rehabilitation counseling; have current federal funding or a record of federal funding; hold national recognition in the areas of research and scholarship; and provide strong service to the university and external community. Additional duties include advising and mentoring graduate students, interdisciplinary collaboration in research, scholarly activities, and grant writing, and service on Department, College, and/or University committees, as well as service to the community and profession.
Minimum qualifications are:
A doctorate in rehabilitation counseling; counseling; marriage and family therapy; psychology; human development; or a closely related area.
Preferred qualifications are:
(A) Graduate of a graduate-level CORE accredited program in rehabilitation counseling and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) credential or eligibility for the credential;
(B) Graduate of a CACREP accredited counseling program;
(C) Current federal funding or a record of federal funding;
(D) A record of successful research, scholarly publications, and grant writing;
(E) A record of successful teaching and clinical supervision in rehabilitation counseling and/or mental health counseling;
(fF Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a mental health counselor, marriage and family therapist, or psychologist in Florida;
(G) Applied clinical experience.
Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience. Additional summer employment is possible, but not guaranteed.

The Department of Rehabilitation & Mental Health Counseling at the University of South Florida is located within the College of Behavioral and Community Sciences. In U.S. News & World Report’s 2012 annual list of America’s Best Graduate Schools, the Department was ranked 30th in the nation. The mission of the program is to promote quality services for individuals with differences in abilities and to assist the state in meeting the complex human service needs in the areas of rehabilitation and mental health counseling through innovative teaching, research, and service. Nationally accredited by the Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE), the program offers a Master of Arts degree in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling. In addition, graduate certificates are available in Marriage and Family Therapy, Behavioral Health Counseling, Substance Abuse Counseling, and Rehabilitation Technology. Providing specialized instruction on the psychological, social, medical, and vocational aspects of disability, the program emphasizes the integration of academic and professional course work to develop personal adjustment expertise, mental health counseling skills, and overall professional competence. Graduates of the program are eligible for the Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) examination and qualify as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). Some graduates are also eligible for the Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) examination. Upon completion of the 60 credit hour program, graduates are prepared for careers as both rehabilitation and mental health counselors. As an interdisciplinary program, Rehabilitation & Mental Health Counseling attracts faculty with a diverse background and expertise in disciplines that enhance diversity of thought and add richness to the academic and research needs of the profession.
