Assistant/Associate – Clinical Mental Health Counseling Education 
 
The Department of Educational Psychology and Special Services invites applications for a tenure-track nine-month Assistant/Associate Professor position in Clinical Mental Health Counseling Education beginning spring 2013 or fall 2013, depending on applicant’s availability.  Applicants will be expected to take a leadership role and teach in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. Additional teaching assignments will be based on the candidate’s experience and expertise. The successful candidate will assume a range of responsibilities including the following: (1) teaching graduate level courses, including online instruction; (2) developing a sustained program of research and scholarship; (3) participating in broad-based university, college, and departmental committee work and professional service; (4) advising students, and (5) supervising students’ field experiences. Teaching in summer school is generally available. 
 
ABOUT UTEP:   The University of Texas at El Paso is an emerging national research university at the heart of the U.S.-Mexico border region committed to the ideals of access and excellence. THE COLLEGE: The department offers programs at the master’s level in community/agency and school counseling, special education, and educational diagnostics.  The College of Education seeks applicants who are committed to excellence in teaching, research, service, and partnerships with K-12 schools, community colleges, faculty in the Arts and Sciences.  Much of the College’s innovative work is supported by large grants from the U.S. Department of Education, National Science Foundation, and the Carnegie Foundation.  The College offers a high level of technical support, generous start-up package, and mentoring for new faculty. 
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should have the following: (1) an earned doctorate in Counselor Education or closely related field (ABD considered but PhD must be completed before employment); (2) experience in community mental health counseling or equivalent; (3) evidence of teaching effectiveness in graduate level courses; (4) evidence of a sustainable program of scholarship and research; (5) ability to work collaboratively with other faculty and professionals.
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Active participation in appropriate professional organizations; licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor or equivalent; familiarity with CACREP accreditation process. 
 
SALARY:  Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience.
