Subject: National Stalking Resource Center Presentation

Friday, January 20, 2012

Hello,

On January 31st at 6:30pm the Women's Center Survivor Advocacy Program will be hosting a program, "Who Stalking You?" that we feel may be beneficial to you and your students. Jessamyn Tracy of the National Stalking Resource Center will present on this serious but often overlooked crime. Participants will learn how to recognize a potential stalker, who is affected by stalking, how to help victims of stalking, and more.

Ms. Tracy joined the Stalking Resource Center at the National Center for Victims of Crime in January, 2010. The mission of the Stalking Resource Center is to enhance the ability of professionals, organizations, and systems to effectively respond to stalking. The Stalking Resource Center envisions a future in which the criminal justice system and its many allied community partners will effectively collaborate and respond to stalking, improve victim safety and well-being, and hold offenders accountable. Prior to joining the National Center, Jess was a professor of criminology and criminal justice, where she specialized in teaching about women and crime. In addition to her research on victimization and fear of crime, she has over 15 years of experience in working with the criminal justice system including as a rape crisis counselor, domestic violence advocate, community service officer, and has experience working with offenders. Jess received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Colorado at Boulder and completed her graduate work at Florida State University.

The presentation will be held on January 31st at 6:30pm in Baker Center Theatre. We hope to see you there!

Thank you,

Simone Savannah
Graduate Assistant
