Show, by your actions, that you choose peace over war, freedom over oppression, voice over silence, service over self-interest, respect over advantage, cooperation over competition, action over passivity, diversity over uniformity, and justice over all.

Subject: Training Available for Graduate Students Seeking Grant and Fellowship Support

Good morning:
As you may be aware, the Research Office purchased a subscription to Pivot, an online database, to support faculty and graduate students in identifying funding sources, finding potential collaborators, and promoting their research and creative activities.

Next month, there will be a training opportunity for graduate students interested in finding funding sources to support their research and education. Using Pivot, participants will learn how to set up search criteria, interpret funding opportunity announcements, and use other tools to find support for graduate education. There are plans to develop a similar training module for faculty.

Could you please share this information with the graduate students in your college or department who may be interested in attending? Here are the details:

Dates and times:
Tuesday, February 7, 11:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m.
and
Friday, February 10, 2:00 - 3:00 p.m

Location:
Research and Technology Center, Conference Room 102

Potential faculty training sessions:
In the near future, I will be in touch to discuss your interest in scheduling a Pivot training session for your college or department faculty. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Here's a little more information about the advantages of using Pivot (pivot.cos.com):
-Easy- to-use interface has features for finding, tracking and sharing funding opportunities.
-Editorially controlled and daily updated database of funding opportunities includes both mainstream and lesser-known funding sources.
-Once search criteria are established, users receive weekly email updates with new funding opportunities. Also, the Advisor feature compiles all available funding opportunities that match each faculty profile.
-Profiles raise the visibility of our faculty experts and their work.

Thank you,
Eleni
