Hello Dr. Bhat,


This week the Women's Center Survivor Advocacy Program will be hosting a number of events that we feel may be beneficial to you and your students.

We are joining with trainer Alex Leslie for a number of Men Can Stop Rape events.  Alex works to prevent sexual violence and trains men to become active bystanders at the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center and with the national Men Can Stop Rape organization.  He is a graduate of the MBA program in Organizational Development and Leadership from Case Western Reserve University's Weatherhead School of Management, and he also holds a BA in Religious Studies from The College of William and Mary.  Alex has presented on numerous campuses nationwide about the role that men can play in preventing instances of rape and sexual violence.  His compelling discussions and demonstrations stress the importance of being an active bystander, and are intended for both males and females.

On Thursday, September 29th, there will be a Brown Bag Lunch and Learn Event held in the Women's Center (Baker 403) from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m.  Participants are asked to bring their lunches and join in an engaging discussion on the role of men today as active bystanders in preventing instances of sexual violence and assault.

Later that day, there will be a Men Can Stop Rape Bystander Intervention held in Bentley Hall Room 140 at 7:00 p.m.  This is a chance for participants to put words into actions and learn what to do to prevent instances of sexual violence and assault.
