an organization does not need to be directly related to sustainability or

TEACH FOR AMERICA RISING LEADERS FELLOWSHIP
Responses to the following announcement should be sent to Colleen Crawford
at Colleen.Crawford at teachforamerica.org.

The Rising Leaders Fellowship is a diverse, national coalition of 100
student leaders who commit to growing the movement to end educational
inequity. This 15-month fellowship provides students with both a local
mentor and a national training forum, the Rising Leaders Summit in
Washington D.C. Through the fellowship, students design and act on a
specific plan to address educational inequity in their campuses and
communities, while drawing energy and support from a national network of
fellows.

WHO ARE THE RISING LEADERS FELLOWS?
Rising Leader Fellows are college sophomores or juniors who have an
existing passion for expanding educational opportunity. They present
outstanding leadership potential and share the racial, ethnic, or economic
backgrounds of the children with whom we work. Rising Leader Fellows
distinguish themselves with their desire to channel their passion into
concrete actions, whether in the form of awareness raising, service, or
advocacy.

How it works:
The Rising Leaders Fellowship focuses on three leadership tools -- a story,
a network, and a plan -- that fellows will grow and draw from throughout
their fellowship. Over the course of the 15 months, fellows articulate
their passion for educational equity, build a network of allies with whom
they can collaborate, and realize a concrete plan for action.

A Story
Transformational leaders do not lead for the sake of leading; they lead
from a place of deep conviction about a problem or opportunity. The Rising
Leaders Fellowship helps fellows shape their passion to expand educational
equity into a compelling narrative -- a narrative that will inspire others
to act and from which fellows' can draw inspiration in the face of
challenges.

A Network
The best leaders surround themselves with allies who inspire, challenge,
and sustain their effort. The Rising Leaders Fellowship expands fellows'
network of allies and ally organizations, thereby growing opportunities to
collaborate.

A Plan
Rising Leader Fellows commit to tangibly address the disparities they see
in education. The fellowship helps students hone a plan of action within
their campuses and communities, to one day end this injustice once and for
all.

DEFINING OUR IMPACT
>> Fellows lead efforts regarding educational inequity and its solvability,
within their respective campuses and communities
>> Fellows collaborate actively within the Rising Leaders network -
including its alumni force and partner organizations
>> Fellows form career intentions that reflect a personal commitment to
expanding educational opportunity for children in low-income communities
