*APhiO Chapter Minutes 4/11/16*

President:

Welcome to chapter :)

Quick activity for everyone :)

This week: I want everyone to think about what keeps you in Alpha Phi
Omega. Next week at chapter we will go around and let several brothers
share their reason for loving APhiO (Inspire each other)

Depending on weather our final chapter (4/17) will be held outside at
Scripps Amphitheater, I will send email out as morning reminder, and then
an hour before chapter to confirm it being outdoors

SECTIONALS 2018!!!!

Next year sectional conference will be held at Case Western University in
Cleveland.. At that conference our chapter will be submitting a bid to hold
sectional conference 2018 at OU :)

2018 is our 75th Anniversary of our chapter which is AMAZING

Fall Semester a planning committee. Current Sophomores and Freshman are the
only ones we would like on the planning committee

More details to come, pay attention to emails in summer.

Announcements from Region V:

We have a new Section 58 Chair. Kate Ricchetti is an OSU graduate, and our
new section chair. Her goal is to better integrate all the chapters in
Section 58, and hold more interchapter events. Hopefully a fall chapter
retreat

Region 5 Summer service project: June 24th-26th Special Olympics! Columbus,
OH (We will put up on website)

Fun fact: Nationals is now starting to PAY graduate students to start
chapters if there isn't one on their campus, if you are going to grad
school you should think about this

BOLD programs are launching for recently graduated alumni (30 and under)
Saturday, May 4th. 9:30-12:30 @ University of Dayton. EVENT IS FREE :)

National Boy Scout Jamboreee Summer 2017

SERVE is going to be in OHIO this summer. YAY. In Canton area from July
15-17th, required for the completion of LEADS

$55 covers all of your meals, all of your hotel costs, and the cost of the
presents (aka really inexpensive)

Execs is cancelled again this week in lieu of History night

Office hours cancelled as well… I have to attend a conference in Kentucky,
if you need to meet or talk, please contact me and we can set up time. If
you need to make up chapter hours contact me, we may be able to work
something out. OR Caleb is having office hours that will count for chapter
hours this week only.

NATIONAL CONFERENCE. Chapter is going to start fundraising for this event
to keep bro costs low.

AMAZING event. We have two chapter members on the planning committee (Zach
Woods & Nina Yoke)

Event is going to be in Pittsburgh, PA from December 27-December 30th

IMPORTANT: more planning committee chairs are open, if you'd be interested
in helping plan, email convention.chair at apo.org



Service:

Events coming up this week:

Athens Beautification Day! - Next Sunday 4/17 at 8:45 am

Student Expo - lots of events on different days at various times this next
week

Jackson County Tire event - Next Saturday 4/16, the need volunteers to help
with a fundraiser and loading tires, if you want to do some heavy lifting
and get service hours in then this is the event for you!

Donate canned goods to the pledges food drive!

Gofundme Donations for Tonia and Kevin 4/24

THANK YOU to all the people who have been sending us old sign ins this past
week, you rock. Keep up the good work :) As a reminder - we don’t receive
lists of people who attend service events from the dog shelter or West
Elementary, so when you sign their sign ins we don’t have any record of
that. For these events you need to make a separate APhiO sign in to turn
into us, or take a picture of the sign in there and email it us.
Additionally, please try to make sure you have every shift from the event
on the sign in, not just your shift

Rollover hours! So as you probably all know, you can get up to two roll
over hours from fundraising, faculty pageant and youth service week

We will be sending out a Google Form this week to enter in any rollover
hours you have - AKA if you have more than two hours in any of those areas

To get your rollover hours you must fill out this form! We’ll send out an
email and post the Google Form on Facebook within the next week!

Give Kids the World! If you signed up as a “maybe” for either trip, you
must decide by next Sunday if you can go on the trip. The trip will be
around $250 and the money will be due by the end of the semester. We will
have trip leaders decided by next Sunday - speaking of which, we don’t have
a tip leader for the first trip yet. We MUST have a trip leader to go ahead
with the trip. If you’re going on the first trip and have been on a service
trip with APhiO before, then please consider being a trip leader. If we
can’t find a trip leader, we may have to cancel the first trip. Email us
ASAP if you want to be a trip leader.

Sad news: Since we did not get enough people to order the stickers the
order was cancelled ): BUT first thing next semester we will be sending out
a large order of swag for yal



Fundraising

YAY! We raised $66 at the lunch time grilled cheese sale & the pledges
raised $55 thursday night!

Pledges I put in another grilled cheese fundraiser for you this thursday so
go check it out and donate!

If you still need hours you can donate $10 and buy SWAG

-Proposed:For every hour a brother misses the brother has to make up that
hour in the following semester or face deactivation on top of the current
punishments. Intended to hold brothers more accountable for chapter
requirements.

-Proposed Example: John Smith misses 2 fellowship hours during the Spring
2016. During the Fall 2016 John will need 5 fellowship hours.

-As is: If a brother fails to complete their hour requirements the brother
cannot take a little, go associate, go early alum, receive a senior cord,
go on trips during the semester, or serve on the executive board. Intended
to be a fair warning that if the brother does not complete their hours
again they will be deactivated.

-As is Example: John Smith misses 2 fellowship hours during the Spring
2016. During the Fall 2016 John will need the normal 3 fellowship hours.

Stagger Fundraising:Need ⅔ vote of actives to be approved

-Proposed:1 brother is elected during the spring semester and 1 brother is
elected during the fall semester. This is intended to ensure there is at
least one experienced fundraising co chair holding the position at any
given time. This also will more closely follow how the brothers serving as
fundraising chair have held the position.

-Proposed Example: Jane Smith is elected during the Fall 2015 and her term
will end after the Fall 2016. Jay West is Elected during the Spring 2016
and her term will end after the Spring 2017.

-As is: 2 brothers are elected to the position during the fall semester and
their term will end after the following fall semester.

-As is Example: Both Jane Smith and Jay West are elected during the Fall
2015 and their term will both end after the Fall 2016.

National Event Chairs

Faculty Pageant

If you signed up for letter writing, make sure you see us after chapter.

LAST FP HOUR OPPORTUNITY: Camp Quality needs craft supplies for camp this
summer, must be at least $10! They also need some items for a raffle basket
for an event they have coming up...minimum of $10 on a gift card or $10
worth of OU merchandise. MUST give them to me by next Sunday.
