[UC1000] IMPORTANT: Information about Financial Aid

Dear University College Students,

I am writing to remind you that it is now time to go online and complete your FAFSA for the 2014-2015 academic year. You may do this at https://fafsa.ed.gov<https://fafsa.ed.gov/>.

These are the key points to remember:

 *   To be eligible for ANY federal or state aid, you must complete the FAFSA each year.
 *   It does not cost anything to complete the FAFSA, so  if a website asks you for payment, you are on the wrong website.
 *   To ensure that you are eligible for the largest pool of financial aid money (including federal work study), you need to submit your FAFSA no later than March 1.
 *   If you or your parents do not have your  2013 taxes completed yet, ESTIMATE.

    *   It is much better to submit your FAFSA by March 1, with estimated figures, than it is to wait for your 2013 taxes to be completed.
    *   If you need to estimate, you can use your 2012 tax return as a guide. Was 2013 a better year financially? If so, estimate higher. Was it a worse year? If so, estimate lower.
    *   If you estimate, you must log back into your FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov<http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/> and provide correct figures when available.
    *   Don't wait. Estimate.

If you have questions about completing the FAFSA, you should contact your Financial Aid advisor. If you don't know who your Financial Aid advisor is, you can determine this at http://www.ohio.edu/financialaid/office/office_assigned.cfm. Also, the Office of Student Financial Aid (020 Chubb Hall) is open Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-5:00PM, and always has staff members available to answer questions.

College is expensive and financial aid is important. Please do not delay in getting going on your FAFSA. March 1 will roll around more quickly than you might expect.
