Dr. Robert Colvin (colvin at ohio.edu) is looking for a PACE student.

Research Description:

The student employee in this PACE position will work in my laboratory on a
research problem designed specifically for the PACE program. The PACE
project will be an integral part of a larger federally funded research
program which hopes to elucidate the role of newly discovered zinc transport
proteins in Alzheimer's disease and stroke. The benefits to the student
include:

1. Working closely with a faculty mentor (myself) to experience first hand
the career of a life scientist in an academic reseach position and to learn
critical skills of teamwork.

2. Exposure to state of the art techniques of cell and molecular biology,
immunocytochemistry, and data analysis using various software programs.

3. Learning how to plan and conduct biological research experiments, analyze
and interpret results, and experience the workings of a federally funded
research program.
4. Guidance and counseling in potential research careers.
