Good afternoon everyone,

I have attached a very good resource for state authorization information. Please investigate this website and take the time to read the information that is provided for you though the WCET State Authorization Network. All of the information listed under the headings of Research, Talking Points, Frontier's Blog and Webcast archives are very relevant to this issue.

You can also use this link to pass on to students and their families about this subject.

Also, as you all know, we are completing an application for Kentucky for field experience approval. If you haven't completed the necessary documents to be included on that application, please contact me as soon as possible. It is important for you all to know that if your program isn't listed on the license that we receive from Kentucky, your students will not be authorized to cross state lines to complete any internships, externships, field trips or clinical experiences in that state. The application will be getting filed as early as June 15th.

For those programs that are interested in allowing their students to complete field experiences in Colorado, please see the attached email. Per the spreadsheet the Colorado Department of Education does not require authorization for these experiences; however, the Colorado Division of Worker's Compensation has their own regulations that still hinders any OU student from completing their experiences in this state unless they are offered worker's compensation and liability insurance through their place of employment (with a paid experience) or through the University for unpaid experiences. The email gives additional detail about this requirement.

As always please see the spreadsheet found at, http://www.ohio.edu/ecampus/about/authorization_faculty_staff/index.htm, for specific state information.

Lastly, although Ohio is now an approved state under the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA), no Ohio institutions have been able to file for approved SARA status at this time. Until OU can file an application through all the necessary avenues, the state regulations listed on the spreadsheet are still active; even if those states of interest are approved SARA states.

If have any questions please contact me at stateauthorization at ohio.edu<mailto:stateauthorization at ohio.edu>.

Thanks!

Kia
