Dear Peter,

This year, the convention program team<http://lyris.acpa.nche.edu/t/108558/864203/1627/0/2/> and the ACPA Senior Scholars are pleased to offer a special complimentary pre-convention workshop for select doctoral students and new faculty.
Mission Impossible? Meeting the Expectations of Contemporary Faculty Life
Monday, March 4, 2013 * 9:00am - 3:00pm

Facilitators: Jan Arminio, George Mason University & Susan Komives, University of Maryland, College Park

Faculty who teach in graduate student affairs programs have a special role in promoting the integrity, effectiveness, and value of the student affairs profession. In seeking to support and celebrate educational excellence on behalf of the profession, the ACPA Senior Scholars are hosting a pre-conference session assisting advanced doctoral students, first year faculty, and those who desire to teach as adjunct instructors in gaining insight into the roles of faculty life.

Goals of the session will include enhancing pedagogical skills through a framework of scholarship in teaching, learning, service, and research. Specifically, the session will involve creative activities and their reflection on active pedagogy. In addition, balancing the roles and politics of faculty life and navigating the tenure and promotion processes will be explored through interaction with the Senior Scholars.

Individuals interested in participating in this workshop must apply before February 8, 2013. Those selected will be notified by February 12, 2013. Complete your application here<http://lyris.acpa.nche.edu/t/108558/864203/2164/0/3/>.

Sincerely,

Please direct any questions to Jan Arminio<mailto:jarminio at gmu.edu>.
