DESCRIPTION

The Coordinator for Student Involvement and Greek Life is a full-time, 12 month position reporting to the Assistant Director, Memorial Union, and serves as a member of the Memorial Union's professional team within the Division of Student Affairs.

The mission of the Center for Student Involvement is to guide, support and challenge students to enhance their total educational experiences through opportunities that foster involvement and leadership, with the aim to develop professional, personal, and civic responsibility in diverse learning environments. This complements the Division of Student Affairs vision to create unparalleled student experiences through extraordinary one-on-one attention, services and support.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Coordinator for Student Involvement and Greek Life will enhance out-of-class learning opportunities for students through support and advising of Greek Life; manage student organizations by assisting students with student organizational needs and registration process; and provide leadership education opportunities for students. Also, the Coordinator for Student Involvement and Greek Life will collaborate with faculty, administrative and staff colleagues and students to develop educational partnerships and learning outcomes for students. A graduate assistant will report to this position and assist with selected areas of responsibility. Other duties as assigned and evenings and weekends as the job may require.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Student Organizations and Campus-wide programs:

 *   Coordinate campus-wide events such as Family Weekend, Homecoming and Oktoberfest.
 *   Serve as a resource to student organizations and advisors and provide direction and guidance as student leaders plan projects and events.
 *   Maintain and update appropriate information databases for student organizations, including the FHSU co-curricular involvement portal Tiger[Link].
 *   Update student organization policies and all applicable forms.
 *   Chair Student Organization Committee, Homecoming Committee, and participate on other University committees.
 *   Possess working knowledge of all aspects relating to student organizations including registration, privileges, and responsibilities such as campus posting policy, solicitation policy, and fundraising guidelines.
 *   Plan and implement the annual Student Organizations Awards Reception.
 *   Provide leadership training workshops for student organization officers and advisors.
 *   Develop leadership resources to benefit student organizations, student leaders, and organization advisors.
 *   Plan and implement the Student Organization Leadership Retreat.
Greek Life:

 *   Advise the Panhellenic and Interfraternity Councils and All-Greek President's Council.
 *   Administer and advise the Greek judicial procedures of the Panhellenic/Interfraternity Councils and campus regulations as it pertains to the Greek community.
 *   Supervise Fall Recruitment for the Greek community and assist chapters with the Continuous Opening Bidding process.
 *   Advise the Order of Omega honor society.
 *   Aid in the planning of Greek 101New Member Education Program for all new members.
 *   Evaluate and assess the current programs and needs of the Fraternity/Sorority Community.
 *   Compile recruitment, grade and membership rosters and statistics as needed.
 *   Communicate regularly with campus officials and/or national headquarters on issues affecting the Greek chapters.
 *   Coordinate and oversee Greek traditional events, including the annual tree lighting ceremony, Tiger bonfire, Greek Week, and the Greek Awards process.
 *   Work with local and national alumni advisors and Greek community stakeholders.
Requirements:

Masters degree in higher education/student services or related field preferred. Knowledge and experience in Greek life, student organizations and leadership education with excellent computer, organizational, and time-management skills. Candidates must possess program planning and development skills with a minimum of one year of relevant experience in a higher education setting. Additional qualities and skills include excellent written and verbal communication skills; understanding of and ability to apply student development concepts and theory; and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Knowledge and support of college union philosophy is important.
