   - Transactional Leadership - creates and organizes tasks for
subordinates, and subordinates are motivated by rewards and punishments
   (related to managerial leadership)
   - Contingent Rewards - subordinates are given rewards when they have
completed their identified goals. Leaders assess performance periodically
and provide appropriate rewards. To be effective, rewards must
be specific
      to each individual subordinate.
      - Active Management - the leader takes a hands-on approach. The
leader will actively monitor subordinates and take action when they see
something is about to go wrong. This leadership style represents a more
      proactive approach.
      - Passive Management - the leader is more hands-off. They will wait
to intervene until performance is unacceptable. This approach is more
      reactive.
      - Laissez-Faire - The leader takes a hands-off approach, avoids
making decisions, and allows the subordinates freedom to act and make
decisions. As such, at times, the organization may lack direction.
Similarly, because a laissez-faire leader of often inactive,
s/he does not
largely impact the climate of the organization.
   - Transformational Leadership - a transformational leader has a vision
and seeks to change both the organization and the people within it.
      - Idealized Influence - the leader will serve as a role model who
displays high ethical behavior, while attaining the trust and respect of
      subordinates
      - Inspirational Motivation - this leader will communicate clearly the
vision for the organization, motivate subordinates to buy in and be
      confident in reaching the goal.
      - Intellectual Stimulation - this type of leader will foster
creativity within followers through encouraging them to think deeply and
independently. The leader will foster an environment which allows all
      participants to learn without criticism.
      - Individualized Consideration - this leader specifically attends to
each of his/her subordinates' needs, listens to their concerns, and
differentiates based on each person's individual needs and motivations
