When an administrator pushes his/her employees to achieve a set goal it is
important that the administrator has supportive managerial attributes and
has positive leadership so that the employees with respect and honor the
motivation. An administrator should work alongside his/her employees to
communicate their achievements and goals. When administrators construct a
school setting that is goal oriented and on task the employees will be more
motivated than if the administrator allowed less structure and freedom. A
positive environment set forth by administration sets a precedent that will
trickle down to the staff to maintain the culture at a high level.

EDAD 6010- Assignment 1

A principal will be well-served to address both managerial and leadership
aspects of administration because it will allow him/her to sustain a
healthy working environment. On one hand, an administrator must manage the
school system and push, tell, and control his/her employees to strive
toward reaching goals set by the state government and district: while on
the other hand the principal must apply leadership qualities like
collaboration and team work to be supportive for their employees across the
board. A principal must juggle the management aspect of a school by pushing
his/her staff to do their jobs while simultaneously being a respected
leader that can collaborate and support their employees toward
accomplishing these same goals.

Stakeholders often find control and structure as a positive aspect of an
effective manager. If an administrator has proper control over how the
staff performs and how the students act, then it can keep the school
running smoothly and in a structured way. If the school and school system
is running in a systematic way, then it can motivate the stakeholders to
stay focused and on task.

Stakeholders find that managers, who do not address the leadership aspects
of their job, can create a negative work place. The missing aspects of a
leader such as: supportiveness, sociability, and open-mindedness are
positive aspects of effective administrators and if an administrator fails
to incorporate these then it could lead to a negative response from their
stakeholders. Being open-minded and socially approachable are critical
aspects for an administrator. Successful and respected principals support
their staff, students, and community in all facets of school and life.
