[Ouctm-l] Exexcutive Board for OUCTM 2012-2013

Hello all.

It's that time of the year again. We are looking for members of OUCTM and those who are interested to become members of the OUCTM Executive Board for the 2012-2013 school year. Being a member of the executive board is a great honor, as well as a great responsibility. Exec. board members basically run the organization, and do everything from plan meetings, hold fundraisers, coordinate tutoring services, and plan all events for the club for the year.

It sounds like a lot of work, but OUCTM has a reputation for having an excellent exec. board that does an amazing job of working together. When all five or six members of the exec board pitch in, the job is much easier. That is why we are looking for those of you who want to get even more involved in OUCTM. Benefits of being an exec board member include:

1) Planning meetings (you get to decide who comes to our meetings, what we talk about, etc., etc.)
2) Valuable leadership and professional development experience (Looks awesome on a resume because it shows your commitment to professional development)
3) Exec board members are given priority if funding is available to attend conferences (this is especially important next year, as the conference is in Denver, and it will be much more expensive to go)
4) Awesome networking opportunities with local, state and national people affiliated with OCTM, NCTM, and Mathematics Education in general.

Anyone who will be a 2nd year or higher is eligible to be on the executive board, with the exception of the president, who is usually a junior or senior. All positions are also open to graduate students as well.

I highly encourage each and every one of you to apply! Read over the descriptions of the different positions, and see which one is a good fit for you. If, perhaps, you aren't quite ready to be the president of the club, being secretary, treasurer, or PR chair is a great place to start!

The deadline for executive board applications this year is Friday, May 4th. Also, you may give the application to Dr. Klein, any executive board member, or e-mail it to me at pb125807 at ohio.edu. Please disregard the April 29th deadline. I have extended it a few days to allow everyone more time to get it done.
