Subject: OCTM: Math standards workshop for school teams - Oct. 16 in Akron

Hello, Ohio mathematics leaders:

I hope the school year has started well for each of you. OCTM is excited to announce a professional event for school teams (or individuals) on Saturday, October 16 in Akron to help school leaders and teachers to prepare for the transition to the Common Core State Standards in mathematics. This event will be led by OCTM facilitators in partnership with the mathematics consultants from the Ohio Department of Education, so teachers and administrators who attend will have access to a great deal of expertise as they work to plan for their transition to the new standards. We are pleased to be able to provide this level of support for a very low registration cost, thanks in part to Texas Instruments, a co-sponsor. (This is not a sales event -- the focus is the new standards.)

Please forward the attached flier to your colleagues who are curriculum leaders, and we encourage schools to send multiple teams where possible. Again, individuals are welcome to attend as well. I also hope that many of you will be able to attend!

I am happy to answer any questions about this event. Thank you for supporting mathematics education in your region!

Kim Yoak
President, OCTM
