Hello all,

Please join BSGS in welcoming Dr. Lisle Gibbs, professor in the Department of Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology at Ohio State University and director of the Ohio Biodiversity Conservation Partnership. Dr. Gibbs will be giving a talk on Thursday, April 19 at 4:00 PM in Irvine 159 titled: "Conservation and Coevolution at the Molecular Level: Case Studies from Rattlesnakes."

Lisle received his Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Michigan in 1988 for work on the evolutionary biology of Darwin’s Finches. He completed postdoctoral fellowships at Queen’s University and McMaster University, took a position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology, McMaster University before moving to Ohio State in 2001. He has broad research interests in the Evolutionary Biology, Molecular Ecology, and Conservation Genetics with special focuses on using snake venoms as a model for understanding the molecular basis of adaptions within and between species and the conservation genetics of venomous snakes (https://u.osu.edu/gibbslab/).

If you would like to meet with Lisle during his stay, please email a preferred time and place. He will be available to meet for 30 minute time slots starting at 9:30.

Cheers,

Cassie

Research in the Gibbs Lab addresses a broad range of questions in evolutionary biology, molecular ecology, and conservation genetics. We infer the evolutionary history of populations and species using genomic scale data, investigate the molecular and functional basis of adaptive variation, and apply ...
