[Mathregionals] High School Math Pathways Initiative

Hi all,

The state is creating a task force to help organize an initiative focused the transition from high school to college mathematics,  and seeking nominations for membership.  Please see the included email and the attached document for more details; I am unclear how this fits with other initiatives that are already in place.

If you are interested, there is a nomination form attached (and please do let me know if you nominate yourself so I can keep people here in the loop).

They are also looking for several high school mathematics teachers to participate, so I would ask you to forward this to any folks whom you think might be interested and who would do a good job.

The Ohio Department of Education is now seeking nominations for the High School Math Pathways Initiative.  ODE is looking for 3 to 5 higher education faculty and approximately 10 high school faculty.  Attached is the nomination form.
You can nominate someone or yourself.  The form is to be returned to Anna Cannelongo by September 23.  Here is her contact information:

Final decisions have not been made regarding the time commitment. However the following is what is being considered:

  *   1 one-day intro meeting in October
  *   1 three-day meeting to map out pathways in November
  *   1 two-day meeting (after the Advisory Council meets) to make any revisions to the pathways and create charge for the work groups
  *   1 to 3 one-day meetings to approve the Work Groups work. These will probably be in the next fiscal year.

Travel will be reimbursed.

Please see that interested individuals are aware of this very important opportunity.
