Dr. Franklin

Dear Patton College of Education Graduates,

I am writing regarding the *English Language Improvement Program
(ELIP)* graduate
courses for Spring Semester.

In Spring, the course *Oral Communication for the Graduate Researcher and
Presenter (ELIP 5320)* is popular, as it supports students through their
oral defense, giving a job talk or conference presentation, or performing
in an interview. There are courses on writing, reading, and
speaking/pronunciation as well.

We are also offering an *Online Writing class (ELIP 5140, #1380)*, for
students who are not on campus full-time or whose busy schedules make an
online course a more realistic option.

Both American and international graduate students can take ELIP courses to
assist them in developing their writing and presentation/oral skills. ELIP
assignments are discipline specific, and the courses provide a significant
amount of one-on-one attention--students work on their own academic
assignments. The courses are for-credit and do not affect GPA as long as
credit is attained.

The *ELIP Graduate Writing Center* has walk-in hours for all Graduate
Students wanting assistance with their writing. Spring Semester hours are *T
Th 6:00 - 9:00 pm, **Gordy Hall.*

If you would like more detailed course information, please see the
attachment or contact me personally. The courses and times are listed below.

 Thank you,
 Dawn Bikowski, PhD
