[Internationalstudentbookclub] First Meeting of Summer Semester!

Dear everyone,

I am pleased to announce that the first meeting of the International Student Book Club for Summer 2013 will be on Wednesday, May 22, at 7 p.m. in Gordy 110.  Snacks (not a meal) will be provided.  I think that the meeting will probably last for about one hour, but we have the room reserved for two hours in case you want to talk longer.  :)

Several of you have gotten copies of "The Great Gatsby" from me.  If you are still interested in purchasing a copy, I have 4 left, and you can get them for $8.50 in my office in Gordy 107.  If you prefer, you can find the book at either Alden Library or Athens Public Library, or from another bookstore in town.

Our plan is to have read the first 3 chapters (through p. 59 for most of us) by next Wednesday.  I am attaching a reading guide and a literature circle sheet for you.  The reading guide is OPTIONAL (you don't have to do it if you don't want to, but it may help).  Please do the literature circle sheet, as that is what we will base our discussion off of.

This book may seem a bit difficult at first, because it was written a long time ago and has a lot of description.  If you want to make sure you understand what you read, you can read a summary at http://www.sparknotes.com/lit/gatsby/
