Hi Fellows: Adela Lente, M.D., HPF Class of 2018, is featured in a news release today in USA TODAY - futureofpersonalhealth.com.

Dr. Lente, a member of the Isleta Pueblo community, is a general surgeon currently practicing emergency general surgery and trauma in El Paso and serves Chair of Surgical Specialties & Associate Professor of Surgery at the Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

As the article explains, "It was Dr. Lente's own experiences struggling in an impoverished community with limited resources that inspired her to help others. She recognizes that too many Native Americans are told they can't succeed in college or a complicated career, and wants to change that. "It's the ones that give up after they're told they can't succeed, those are the ones I'm in search of empowering."
