Hi Fellows and List Serve Members: I am passing along a new resource that will help you stay abreast of the executive branch's national health reform efforts. The HHS Office of Health Care Reform, led by Nancy Ann Deparle, has a web site that features a weekly update on reform efforts and links to reports on access/quality/cost issues: http://www.healthreform.gov/

The Dollars and Sense of Prevention: A Primer for Health Policy Makers, hosted by The Center for Studying Health System Change, will be held Monday morning, June 8 at the Marriot Metro Center, Washington, D.C. According to the HSC website, "the conference, moderated by HSC President Paul B. Ginsburg, Ph.D., will provide a primer on the potential of prevention and improved care for patients with chronic conditions to add value to the health system." Mark Fendrick, M.D., will participate in a panel; some of you Fellows will remember Dr. Fendrick's lively session during the Policy and Politics seminars in which he advocated for value-based insurance design. There is no registration fee. http://www.hschange.org/index.cgi?conf=show&what=26
The HPF will accept applications through May 31. Your recommendation of potential applicants is the best way to identify qualified candidates for the Class of 2010. Thanks to those of your who have recommended colleagues - and too all of you for encouraging your colleagues to get in touch with me to discuss the program. NC
