JOB POSTING:
An instructor is needed to teach Geographic Information Systems for social sciences (Geography 343) at Northwestern University, fall quarter, 2016. The course is an introduction to the GIS as well as the theories and applications of GIS within a social science context. Available for the class are thirty computer stations which may be used as part of the course. Additional lab time may be available or warranted. All software used is ArcGIS. The course assumes no specific prerequisites of students. The purpose of the course is to allow the students to master sufficient GIS concepts and applications to carry out a short research project that applies the ArcGIS approach. Individual projects involve database manipulations including Census Tiger files, digital elevation modules, and spatial statistics. Graduate students who are ABD may apply; PhD is a preferred qualification. This is a part-time position. Review of applications will begin on April 4, 2016.
