The Carnegie Institution for Science has an immediate opening for one 100% time position as research and administrative assistant, providing keyboarding support to a senior researcher in the Department of Global Ecology. The person who fills this position will be responsible for a range of research and administrative activities. The focus of research (~70% of time) will be assessment of scientific understanding of climate change, including assessment by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The goal of the work will be to improve methods for synthesizing and communicating knowledge of climate-related risks and response options, to empower responses in a changing climate. Projects will evaluate the effectiveness of past assessment efforts and develop new methods of assessment, reflecting needs for expert judgment and creative conceptualizations of the climate challenge. The position will also involve administrative keyboarding support (~30% of time), related to email and file management, web-based activities, and travel planning. <http://community.aag.org/aag>

We are looking for an individual able to learn new skills on an ongoing basis and comfortable with the idea of continuously reshaping his/her skill set. The successful candidate should have advanced computer skills; excellent writing and critical thinking; experience with data analysis, statistical methods, and related software; expertise in literature research; and the ability to work with a wide range of people. Experience with website management and computer programming is a strong plus. Interest in and experience with the science of climate change and associated research methods are definite assets. Familiarity with academic and research environments is also desirable. An undergraduate degree or masters in a climate change related discipline is required.<http://community.aag.org/aag>
