Subject: NWS Pathways Internships

Greetings,
The NWS Pathways Internship is the current replacement to the SCEP Internship, which was a paid internship with the NWS where the student contributed 640 hours of work with the opportunity for a direct hire after graduation. The Pathways program is now being advertised on USA Jobs at the following link:

https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/382677400
I was just made aware of this and wanted to pass it on to you and your students as the internship vacancies close next Friday, October 24. Pathways is a paid internship, with students being compensated at either the GS-03 or GS-04 level. Although any student with at least 30 semester hours completed at your university may apply, my thinking is that students with junior or senior standing will receive the most consideration for the internships. Keep in mind that students who apply and receive the internship must complete 640 hours at the WFO and complete their meteorology/atmospheric sciences degree. It should also be noted that a minimum GPA of 3.0 is required for the duration of the internship (though I do not believe it is a requirement to apply).
Current regional vacancies that may interest your students include the following offices:

White Lake (Detroit), MI
Wilmington (Cincinnati), OH
Coraopolis (Pittsburgh), PA
State College, PA
There are 21 other offices currently with openings. Please check out the announcement and let me know if you have any questions. Sorry about the late notice. This was supposed to be rolled out last summer but was delayed. Thanks,
