We're looking for passionate people who believe that Ohioans deserve a safe, clean transportation system that lets us all get where we need to go. We want government to stop spending so much transportation money on new and wider highways, and instead use that money to invest in public transit, bikeways, and repairing existing roads and bridges.

Cuyahoga County continues to fuel global warming by releasing thousands of tons of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere each year - in 2002, Cuyahoga County ranked as the fourth highest emitter of carbon emissions in the nation, with 12.1 millions of tons emitted that year alone.

Despite this, we spend too much on highways and not enough on transit, bikes and pedestrian infrastructure. The state has been on a highway-building spree where earlier this year they passed a $3 billion transportation plan that is mostly going towards highway expansion. The state's Highway Lobby is strong and wants to cash in on those highway contracts.

These are the wrong priorities, but especially because students have been leading the decline in driving and are increasingly riding public transit and biking.
