Dear Emeriti,

The forwarded e-mail from Roxanne Male Brune explains more about Cat's Cupboard the on campus food pantry.

We will be collecting donations for the pantry at our December Luncheon.

"If I were giving a young man advice as to how he might succeed in life, I would say to him, pick out a good father and mother, and begin life in Ohio.

Subject: #KindnessIsFood - Donations for the OHIO Food Pantry

Marty
For the past few years, I have been spearheading a holiday fundraiser for Cats' Cupboard<https://www.ohio.edu/student-affairs/dean-of-students/basic-needs-programs/food-assistance#cats-cupboard>-- the on-campus food panty -- with the Storytelling Institute<https://www.ohio.edu/scripps-college/schools-centers/barbara-geralds-institute>. It's called #KindnessIsFood.
Cats’ Cupboard food pantry provides access to fresh, frozen, and shelf-stable food options. During the holiday season, Cats' Cupboard also provide hygiene products and items to make holiday cookies.

Last year we raised $10,000, 10,000 lbs of food and enrolled 45 new student users.

Could we encourage the emeriti to participate this year?

What is #KindnessIsFood?
#KindnessIsFood is a campaign to raise awareness about food insecurity on campus and in the greater community, while also encouraging donations to Cat’s Cupboard Food Pantry.
A key goal of #KindnessIsFood is to ensure that Cat’s Cupboard is well-stocked to support students — especially international graduate students and their families—over the winter break. Our Goals

  1. Raise $5,000 in monetary donations.
  2. Collect 3,000 lbs. of food donations.
  3. Build awareness of Cat’s Cupboard to help Bobcats in need.

How Can Emeriti Help?

  *
Bring food and hygiene items to the December emeriti meeting. [I will transport them to Cats' Cupboard.]
  *
Drop items off at the 2nd floor Baker Center cabinets or the Schoonover lobby through Dec. 15th.
  *
Donate through Amazon Wish List, https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3JKSBSZZGBAD?ref_=wl_share
  *
Purchase gift cards to Aldi, Seamans or Krogers and mail to Cats' Cupboard [Ohio University, Basic Needs Office, Baker Center, Athens OHJ 45701] or bring to the December emeriti meeting.

The attached Power Point details basic need, holiday and personal items to donate.
