*Note:  Clinical psychology majors are now allowed to applied as long as the research is basic research (not patient)-driven.

Summary:  The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students who are pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees in fields within NSF's mission. The GRFP provides three years of support for the graduate education of individuals who have demonstrated their potential for significant achievements in science and engineering research.

Eligibility:

*         US citizen, national or permanent resident

*         Graduating seniors and 1st and 2nd year graduate students



IMPORTANT:  Effective as of the 2017 competition (Fall 2016 deadlines), graduate students are limited to only one application to the GRFP, submitted either in the first year or in the second year of graduate school. An exception is provided for first-year graduate students who applied to the 2016 GRFP competition in Fall 2015; these individuals may apply a second time in Fall 2016, if they are otherwise eligible


*         Applicants must not have completed more than 12 months of full-time graduate, post-baccalaureate graduate, and professional study by August 1, of the year the application is submitted. Pre-graduate participation in summer activities (e.g., bridge programs, field studies, lab rotations) offered by a graduate program prior to the start of the fall graduate program are not included in this total

*         GRE scores are NOT required.

*         No GPA requirement, but typically above 3.6 (UG).


Benefits:
·         $34,000 annual stipend (plus $12,000 for cost-of-education allowance) for up to 3 years
