First, great attendance at the game last night! Only positive things emerge when around 90% of your chapter shows up to events... like hypothetically a new 50" TV. I'll send another email out soon with the dates for the last two games.

Kevin set out this email with a link to the Leadership awards page. I strongly encourage checking them out.

Reminder, bid meeting Friday (tomorrow) @6 before the Hockey game.

Lastly, today I will be attending the second meeting of the 21st Century Leadership Series. It will be from 6-8 in Baker. I will send out a groupme, feel free to text me if you are going.

The 21st Century Leadership Series continues on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 p.m.
Students may attend at any time. A make-up session will be held near the end of the quarter.

ALSO!

This quarter we are pleased to announce two additional programs
available to complement your students’ experience:

“Bafa’ Bafa’” and “Active and Effective Listening”

Bafa’ Bafa’ (pronounced: Bah Fah - Bah Fah): A Cross-Cultural Leadership Simulation
Bafa’ Bafa’ is designed for administrators, faculty, and students who are in situations that require an experiential understanding of another culture. After participants are given a brief orientation to the exercise, they are divided into two groups or "cultures." They are then introduced to the values, rules, expectations, and the social norms of their new culture.

Observers are exchanged between the two cultures. After a fixed time, the observers return to their respective groups and report on what they saw. Each group tries to develop hypotheses about the most effective way to interact with the other culture. After the exercise, the participants discuss and analyze the experience and generalize it to other groups in the real world.

Benefits include enhancing teaching and learning in a culturally diverse classroom, dealing with racial and ethnic conflict, and developing an understanding of the needs of different racial and ethnic groups.
Duration: 3.5-4.0 interactive and engaging hours; can be divided into 2 concurrent sessions

Active and Effective Listening
This program is designed to help students learn the value of listening as a leadership skill to be used actively, not passively. Using the “S.I.E.R. Model,” students will be exposed to different types of effective listening and communications styles, will identify their own personal behaviors, and will learn how to respond effectively to various people in different situations.
Duration: 1.5 hours
