Hello DSC'ers!
I hope you're enjoying your fall semester! Below is an announcement for the inaugural Student Diversity Conference which will showcase student work and research in areas of diversity. The conference will be on Saturday, October 22, but space is limited so you will need to register in advance! Lunch with keynote speaker, Dr. Stephanie Adams, Dean of Batten College of Engineering at Old Dominion is free! More information and the link to registration is below.

The Office for Diversity and Inclusion is pleased to announce OHIO's inaugural student conference,  Diversity in the Midst of Change. The conference will be held in Grover Center on Saturday, October 22, 2016 from 9:30-1:30 p.m. Registration will be from 9:30-10:00 a.m., with the conference starting promptly at 10:00 a.m. Diversity in the Midst of Change is designed to address crucial issues facing students in today's society. The conference will be free to students, however, students are required to register below. Space is limited so make sure you register by October 7. Students participating will receive a certificate of completion.

This year's conference will kick-off with a welcome from President McDavis and two morning breakout sessions. After the luncheon and keynote, the students will attend one more session before they hear closing remarks from Dr. Jason Pina, Vice President of Student Affairs. The workshops being offered are:  Dealing with Xenophobia in Today's Culture, Politics in a Politically Charged Environment, "_____" Lives Matter  and  Allies and Advocates in Today's Society.

The luncheon will feature a keynote address from Dr. Stephanie Adams, Dean of the Batten College of Engineering and Technology at Old Dominion. Dr. Adams is the first female and African-American dean of the college and one of only three African-American women deans of engineering in the U.S.
