Queer up your studies in the Spring with the following courses!

WGSS 2900 (previously 2200) - Introduction to LGBTQ Studies
Spring 2016 TR 10:30am-11:50am
Instructor: Dr. Loran Marsan
Credits: 3

Are you interested in LGBTQ histories, cultures, and politics? Always wondered what the deal with "queer" is? Then you might be interested in taking Introduction to LGBTQ Studies! In conjunction with WGSS's Certificate in LGBTQ Studies the following introductory course is offered in Spring 2016. *Please note, this course is listed as 2900 in course offerings BUT will count towards the certificate requirement for 2200 as well as any other university requirements that 2200 fulfills. This course number may be changed back to 2200 before Spring, but student enrollment will not be affected and students will not have to take any action if they have enrolled in 2900. This is an introductory course in which students examine various historical, sociocultural, and political aspects of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer identities and experience. This course will explore themes and topics within LGBTQ Studies including intersectional attention to social, legal, institutional, cultural, activist, and movement histories as well as debates within and between communities, theories, and philosophies. In this class you will learn to apply "queer" as a method of inquiry and analysis in order to more fully understand, critique, and utilize not only these themes and topics but create a new optics through which to interrogate the world around you and the potential for different ways of knowing, thinking, and being.
