Dems Minutes 10/19


Hey everyone! Hope your week 7 is dynamite! Here are the minutes from this
week’s meeting:


IT’S CRUNCH TIME! We have less than two weeks until the election! We need
all the help we can get – canvassing, phone calls, tabling, etc. Whenever
you have free time, please come out and help us fight to keep Ohio blue!


We will be canvassing a lot this week! We will be knocking doors on
Wednesday from 6-8:30 PM; Thursday from 5-7:30 PM; Friday from 12-2 PM; and
Sunday from 12-5 PM. Please meet us at the campaign office, 77½ E. State St!


Instead of chalking & flyering this Monday, we will be doing a phonebank
shift from 7-9 PM at the campaign office, 77½ E. State St! Come out and make
some phone calls!


Governor Ted Strickland will be at our campaign office, 77½ E. State St,
this Saturday at 12:15! Directly following this event, we will be canvassing
from 1-5 PM! Come out and meet your governor!


Sign up for a weekly phonebanking commitment, or just come in to the office
(77½ E. State St.) whenever you have free time!


We will be tabling this week on Wednesday from 1-5 at the bottom of Baker
and Monday from 10-5 at College Gate!


We need street captains to be in charge of talking to people in certain
sections of town with a partner! Please contact Shannon Welch if you are
interested!


Thank you so much to everyone who participated in Homecoming! You were all
absolutely amazing and our float’s awesomeness spoke for itself!

look awesome around campus!

Thanks everyone for signing up for phone shifts – we are so proud of you!


Alpha Phi Omega pledge class is putting on a flag football tournament on
November 6 at 11 am. It is $50 for a six person team or $10 per person! All
proceeds will go to help rebuild the Athens High School football field that
got destroyed during the tornado. Contact Emma Jensen at

There is a standup comedy night this Saturday at 8 PM in Front Room!


The George Washington Forum is bring in John Yoo to speak on October 28.
John Yoo worked with the Bush administration and signed off on torture
techniques such as waterboarding. The Young Democratic Socialists will be
organizing a protest. If you are interested, you can attend one of their
meetings on Monday at 8 PM at Bentley 110 or contact Jess Miller at
jm235510 at ohio.edu!


There will be an Islamophobia forum in Baker Theater on Monday, November 8
from 6:30-8 PM. The discussion panel will include our very own Alex Maza, as
well as some members of the Muslim Student Association.
