Subject: [External] Counselor Wellness: Dissertation Study

Hello,

My name is Alexandra Mott, and I am a doctoral candidate at the University of Cincinnati conducting dissertation research titled “Counselor Wellness in Context: An Ecological Exploration.” Under the supervision of my faculty advisor, Dr. Mei Tang, I am examining how personal, professional, organizational, and broader systemic factors relate to counselor wellness and intentions to remain in the profession.

To participate, you must meet all the following criteria:

  *   Be at least 18 years of age;

  *   Currently practice as a licensed counselor in the United States;

  * Hold an active professional counseling license or credential, such as LPC, LPCC, LPCC-S, LCPC, LCMHC, LMHP, NCC, or an equivalent state-recognized counseling credential; and

  * Be able to read and understand English.

Participation involves completing an anonymous online survey about counselor wellness, ecological factors, career longevity, perceived stress, and life satisfaction. The survey takes approximately 10–15 minutes to complete. Participation is voluntary, you may skip any question or exit at any time, and no identifying information or IP addresses will be collected. There is no compensation for participation.

This study has been approved by the University of Cincinnati Institutional Review Board (#2026-0761).

Risks and benefits:

Risks: Some questions about wellness, stress, burnout, finances, workplace conditions, life satisfaction, or career longevity may cause mild emotional discomfort. You may skip any question or exit the survey at any time.

Benefits: There is no guaranteed direct benefit to participating. Your responses may contribute to a better understanding of counselor wellness and may inform future counselor education, supervision, organizational practices, professional advocacy, and workforce-retention efforts.

Please feel free to share this invitation with other eligible licensed counselors. If you have questions, contact Alexandra Mott at mottap at mail.uc.edu<mailto:mottap at mail.uc.edu> or the faculty advisor, Dr. Mei Tang, at tangmi at ucmail.uc.edu<mailto:tangmi at ucmail.uc.edu>.

Thank you for considering participation in this research and for your contributions to the counseling profession.

Sincerely,

Alexandra Mott, MA, LPCC-S
