Greetings,
My name is Hanyun Li. I am a doctoral candidate in the PhD Program in Counseling in the Department of Counseling and Human Development at The George Washington University. You are invited to participate in a qualitative study entitled “School Counselor Leadership Identity Development of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) School Counselors in Training (SCIT).” This study seeks to explore and understand how BIPOC SCITs develop school counselor leadership identity within the context of mater’s level CACREP-accredited school counseling programs.
Interested participants should meet the following inclusion criteria:
1. At least 18 years old or older
2. Self-identify as a Black, Indigenous, or People of Color
3. Self-identify as a school counselor in training
4. Currently enrolled in a master’s level CACREP-accredited school counseling program
You are invited to participate in three forms of engagement as follows:
1. One Demographic Questionnaire
• You will fill out one demographic questionnaire on your identities electronically via Qualtrics.
2. Two Semi-Structured Interviews
• You will participate in two separate semi-structured interviews via Zoom or telephone, based on your preference. The interviews will last approximately 60-90 minutes for the first round and approximately 60 minutes for the second round.
3. Two Member Checks
• You will engage in two separate participant member checks via email, lasting 5-30 minutes for each. The member check invites participants to review and provide feedback on the generated codes and themes from the interviews.
Your participation in this study is fully voluntary throughout the research process. You can withdraw from this study at any time with no need to explain. Upon full participation as listed above, you will receive a $25 Amazon eGift Card. More detailed information is included in the informed consent. If you would like to participate in this study, please email Hanyun Li at hli77 at gwu.edu<mailto:hli77 at gwu.edu>. If you have any questions or concerns about this study, please feel free to email Dr. Harvey Charles Peters at hcpeters at gwu.edu<mailto:hcpeters at gwu.edu>.
Thanks for your time and consideration!
Sincerely,
