Information about a new club led by Counselor Ed doctoral student Sunder Singhani along with doctoral students Ibrahim Akmese and Anniesha Lyngdoh.

Student Club: Ohio University Mindfulness-Based Living (OUMBL)

Description: Mindfulness is the awareness that arises with paying attention to the present moment non-judgmentally and with intention. As research has shown, applying mindfulness to daily living is beneficial for mental and physical health. This club will use mindfulness-based activities/practices and meditation to improve the mindfulness of group members. Activities will include mindful eating, mindful walking, mindful talking, mindful listening, and mindful self-compassion among many others. We will practice these at each meeting and discuss our experiences. In addition, we will practice guided meditations for mindfulness, compassion, and loving-kindness.

Meeting: Group will meet for an hour on a weekday in the afternoon. Each meeting will consist of a 10-15 minute mindfulness meditation, a mindfulness-based activity, and a discussion. The meeting day/time will be decided after the Involvement Fair.
