Subject: INVITATION to Participate in Research Study

Dear Program Director/Director of Clinical Training,

I was hoping that you could distribute this email to your students, I am currently seeking clinical graduate students (within 2 months of graduating) to take part in a survey regarding their training experiences in their clinical graduate program related to transgender and non-binary affirmative therapy. Researchers continue to report that clinicians report receiving a lack of training related to the transgender and non-binary population. This limits the ability for this population to locate affirming clinicians, which relates to the continued disproportionate negative mental health outcomes this population experiences. Through understanding your experience as a student, my hope is to help develop the necessary curricula that is needed to affirmatively reach this population as clinicians.

The survey is a part of a doctoral study entitled How are Mental Health Providers Equipped to Provide Transgender and Non-Binary Affirmative Therapy? Exploring Faculty and Student Preparedness, which is required to fulfill the requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy, Marriage Family Therapy Program at the University of Georgia. The project chair for this study is Elizabeth Wieling, Ph.D. The study is interested in learning about and understanding the experiences of clinical graduate students’ self-reported feelings regarding their training experiences in transgender and non-binary affirmative therapy.

Interested individuals will be asked to fill out a series of brief surveys which will take approximately 30 minutes. Please note that participation in the study is voluntary. If you choose to participant in the study, your identity will be anonymous in the final publication. If you are interested in being included in the study, please click on the following link to complete the survey: https://ugeorgia.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bIBrflMsRKoZEGh

Thank you for your time.

Best regards,
