The University of Tennessee Counselor Education Program is accepting applications for a Non-Tenure Track Clinical Assistant Professor position with administrative job duties as the Director of the Counselor Training Clinic (CTC). Full Time, 12 months, begins August 1, 2020

Qualifications: Required

1.     Earned doctoral degree in counselor education (e.g., counseling, counselor education, counselor education and practice, counselor education and supervision, etc.), preferably from a CACREP-accredited program, no later than August 31, 2020

2.     Current licensure as an LPC-MHSP in Tennessee or demonstrated eligibility for LPC-MHSP in Tennessee (with ability to obtain LPC-MHSP within one year)

3.     Demonstrated success or potential success providing clinical supervision to master’s-level counseling students or counselors

4.     Demonstrated success or potential success teaching or co-teaching graduate-level counseling courses

Qualifications: Desired

1.     Depth of clinical experience as evidenced by several years full-time or sustained part-time post-master’s counseling experience with diverse populations

2.     Administrative experience or leadership within a counseling clinic, including ability to collaborate with stakeholders within the university and local community

3.     Ability and willingness to teach a range of core and specialty courses customized to the needs of clinical mental health and school counseling students

4.     Strong commitment to multicultural counseling and social justice counseling competencies as evidenced in clinical work, supervision, and teaching

  1.  Professional dispositions including ability to work collegially in a collaborative team environment and to model program dispositions including Commitment, Openness, Respect, Integrity, and Self-Awareness (CORIS)
  2.  Counselor-first professional identity as evidenced via credentials and engagement with professional counseling organizations
  3.  Licensure or certification specific to supervision (e.g., state-approved supervisor, ACS)

Responsibilities

  1.  Teach three graduate-level counselor education courses each fall and spring semester, with 1-2 courses each summer as negotiated with Department Head
  2.  Provide year-round leadership of CTC (e.g., develop policies and procedures, supervise graduate assistants and work study students assigned to the CTC, publicize the CTC, develop partnerships with stakeholders, collaborate with faculty on opportunities for CTC funding)
  3.  Serve as site supervisor for counselor education doctoral students completing teaching, supervision, clinical, and/or leadership and advocacy internships related to teaching and administrative assignments
  4.  Actively engage as core faculty member (e.g., advise master’s-level students; participate in faculty meetings, admissions interviews, student review and retention processes; serve on program or department committees as needed; provide licensure supervision for doctoral students as appropriate)
  5.  Maintain active licensure as an LPC-MHSP; if not licensed in Tennessee at the time of hire, must obtain LPC-MHSP within one year of appointment
  6.  Maintain requirements for serving as a core faculty member via sustained memberships in professional counseling organizations, professional development, and professional service and advocacy (e.g., engagement and presentations in local, state, or national organizations)
