[Counselor_Educ] Daniel Bonnah Amparbeng selected as an OCA Emerging Leader

Congratulations to 1st year doctoral student Daniel Bonnah Amparbeng who was selected as one of two doctoral emerging leaders for the Ohio Counseling Association for 2019-2020.

Previously, Stephanie Maccombs (now a 3rd year doctoral student) was selected as an OCA Emerging Leader. Dr. Jason McGlothlin, Associate Professor, Kent State University and OCA President Elect will be Daniel's mentor. Dr. McGlothlin is an alumnus of our program. Our very own Dr. Yegan Pillay is immediate past president of OCA. Drs. Davis and Bhat have served as OCA presidents in the past. Dr. Foreman is president of the SE Ohio Counseling Association (a branch of OCA). The Ohio University Counselor Education's commitment to professional leadership is evident with these contributions of students and faculty in our state counseling association! All our faculty members are active in leadership in state and national counseling organizations, and we encourage students to talk with us about how you might be involved.

Dear Dan,
Thank you for the time and effort invested in submitting your application to the OCA Emerging Leaders for 2019-2020.  After much consideration from our OCA Leadership Committee, we are happy to inform you that you have been chosen as one of two doctoral emerging leaders for the Ohio Counseling Association. Congratulations!!!

We were honored by the extraordinary number of outstanding applications.  You are clearly devoted to excellence in counseling and we hope you will continue to submit proposals for future awards and presentations at OCA conferences.

Please note that the Emerging Leaders Orientation will be Wednesday, November 6th at 9am immediately before the Leadership Development Institute (LDI; 10:00-4:30pm, Location TBD).  We request your presence at both the orientation and the leadership development institute as you begin your honorable service as an OCA Emerging Leader.  You will also be eligible for up to 4 CEUs for your time.  Please come prepared to discuss what OCA committee you would like to serve on.

I also want to e-introduce you to Dr. Jason McGlothlin, Associate Professor at Kent State University and President-Elect of the Ohio Counseling Association.  He is cc'd on this email.  Dr. McGlothlin has volunteered to be an Emerging Leaders mentor for OCA and we are grateful for his dedication to leadership in the field.  We do ask that you and Dr. McGlothlin meet monthly (virtually, by phone, etc.) throughout your time as an Emerging Leader.
