September was a busy month for us and we hope you were able to take advantage of one or both of our training opportunities. NEORA held their annual one day conference in Independence, Ohio on Friday, September 6 and ORA held its 65th Anniversary Celebration and Training Conference Event two weeks later in Dublin, Ohio on September 19-20. Both offered CEUs, great presentations, and an opportunity to network.

This month the ORA Board will be reviewing the success of our conferences and discussing future conferences. But more importantly, we will be discussing the 2020 Board of Directors elections as well as our strategic plans for our organization for 2020 and 2021. We are fortunate to have the 2019 NRA President-Elect, Dr. DeAnna Henderson (Wilberforce University) as a resident of Ohio! Reflecting a commitment to a robust and competitive American labor force, the 2019 National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) theme is "The Right Talent, Right Now." Observed each October, NDEAM celebrates the contributions of workers with disabilities and educates about the value of a workforce inclusive of their skills and talents.

"Ohioans with disabilities offer value and talent to Ohio's workforce and economy," said Ohio Governor Mike DeWine. "I salute Ohio businesses committed to hiring individuals with a disability, alongside those who do not have disabilities, to create inclusive environments so that no one is left behind."

It is that time of year when the ORA Board must attend to the business of recruiting individuals for the upcoming vacancies on the 2020 ORA Board.

We are seeking TWO BOARD MEMBERS to serve on the ORA Board for a term of three years (2020-2022). The responsibilities and duties of a Board Member include:

  *   Attend ORA Full Board meetings via teleconference or when appropriate, in person.
  *   Serve as committee chairs and committee members, at the request of the President.
  *   Provide support for (and at) the ORA Training Conference Committees, e.g., as serving as chairs, selling basket raffle tickets, monitoring sessions, etc.
  *   Provide materials for the monthly e-newsletter and the Commemorative issue of the Interchange, when appropriate.
  *   Participate in the annual review of the ORA Strategic Plan and Budget and the Leadership Handbook.
